Allan Smith was a resident of Cold Spring and practiced locally from approximately 1923 until 1954. He was also an employed civil engineer and land surveyor for the New York City Department of Water Supply. His land surveying practice was concentrated in western Putnam County, where he conducted many surveys in Cold Spring, Nelsonville, Philipstown and Putnam Valley, with occasional projects in southern Dutchess County.
